The Russian war of aggression on Ukraine has abruptly and radically changed the lives of Ukrainian students and scientists. Studies, research and further academic qualification were massively impeded or completely interrupted by the Russian war. With funding from the Hessian Ministry of Science and the Arts (HMWK), Justus Liebig University Giessen (JLU) and the National University of Kyiv-Mohyla Academy (NaUKMA) will hold an interdisciplinary Spring School on Peace and Conflict Studies in the week of April 3-6, 2023, welcoming 70 Ukrainian students and other JLU students from various disciplines to Giessen.
During the Spring School, the topics of transitional justice with a focus on gender and intersectionality, flight and migration, and the role of education in the midst of war and violence will be dealt with in depth in seminar groups led jointly by scholars from JLU and NaUKMA. In each case, the focus is on the situation in Ukraine, which is analyzed against the background of international experience.
The organizing team therefore invites you to a public, English-language panel discussion on «The War in Ukraine: Current Situation and Future Perspectives» on Wednesday, April 5, 2023, starting at 6:00 p.m. in the Lecture Hall Building, Licher Straße 68.
