Racism and truth in CAPAZ’ latest column in El Espectador’s Colombia+20
New column!
Juliana Gonzales (M.A. in Political Theory at the University of Frankfurt and researcher at the University of Marburg) and Miguel Estupiñán (Journalist) join the CAPAZ Education and Science Diplomacy project with their opinion column in El Espectador newspaper’s Colombia+20.
Both comment on an event recently held by the Truth Commission, the Council for Human Rights and Displacement (CODHES), the National Afro-Colombian Peace Council (CONPA) and CAPAZ in Cartagena, where academia, civil society and transitional institutions reflected on structural racism and guarantees of non-repetition for Afro-descendant, black, Raizal and Palenquero peoples.

«We need to talk about structural racism because the dehumanisation of the other has been perpetuated and naturalised throughout history. This is evinced by the intensity and continuity of the armed conflict in ethnic territories and, above all, the serious impacts on their communities».
