The Interdisciplinary Network of Memory Studies in Latin America -MemoriAL- is a conglomerate of German and Colombian universities, which brings together professors and students in the study of topics related to memorial processes and their dissemination. Within the framework of the CAPAZ exploratory studies, MemoriAL will hold an event called MEMORY, ACADEMIA, AND CIVIL SOCIETY: BUILDING BRIDGES aimed at reviewing and rethinking the role that academia and cooperation organisms are adopting regarding society and its recent history. In the current situation, in which memory plays a central but decentralised and diverse role, the event is aimed at generating horizontal dialogues and reflections regarding the challenges that have emerged throughout the last decade.
The event, which will take place on March 13-15, 2019 at Universidad de los Andes in Bogotá, will bring together different actors to hold dialogues and workshops focusing on three axes: cultural productions of memory, asymmetries in the production of knowledge on the past, and pedagogies of memory. The event is also aimed at tracing needs and rendering possible new logics and articulations that materialise in a transmedia project that guarantees the presence of each of the sectors and actors involved in memory-related work in the country.
