“Literature and trauma of the armed conflict in Colombia”, a conversation between Helena Urán Bigain and Laura Restrepo

The German-Colombian Peace Institute – CAPAZ, Universidad del Rosario in Bogotá, and the Justus Liebig University Giessen in Germany have organised an online discussion with Laura Restrepo and Helena Urán Bidegain on the subject of memory and the Colombian armed conflict, and its relationship and representation through literature. The event will be held online for the general public and will be moderated by Prof. Dr. Verena Dolle from the Institute for Romanistics at the JLU Giessen.

The talk will be held on Wednesday, January 20, 2021, at 2:00 p.m. (Colombia), 8:00 p.m. (Germany), and broadcast live on the JLU and CAPAZ Youtube channels (JLU in German; CAPAZ in Spanish).

Laura Restrepo is a Colombian writer, winner of several awards and with a biography devoted to the memory and treatment of aspects of the Colombian armed conflict through fiction. Helena Urán Bigain has engaged in working for truth and memory concerning Colombia’s conflict. Daughter of the disappeared Auxiliary Magistrate Carlos Horario Urán, she recently published her book entitled “Mi vida y el Palacio: 6 y 7 de noviembre de 1985” (My Life and the Palace: November 6 and 7, 1985).
