German parliamentarians visit CAPAZ
CAPAZ received a delegation of German parliamentarians at its offices at Claustro de San Agustín in Bogotá. The delegation included Johannes Wagner (Grüner Partei), Heike Engelhardt (SPD), Anke Domscheit-Berg (Linkspartei), Jens Beeck (FDP) and Stefan Keuter (AFD). Their visit to Bogota was part of a tour of the parliamentarians in South America where they had meetings with various civil society organizations, and members of the Colombian Congress, among others.
Their tour of Claustro de San Agustín began with the photo exhibition “El Testigo” (The Witness) by photographer Jesús Abad Colorado. The parliamentarians were able to learn a little more about the dynamics of the Colombian armed conflict through the photographs and the explanations given by the team of CAPAZ Science collaborators.
After the tour, the group of parliamentarians had the opportunity to converse with the CAPAZ team. This included a presentation of each of the CAPAZ areas of work, as well as an explanation of budgetary and administrative issues. There was also a chance to answer questions and exchange gifts.
Leyner Palacios (former Truth Commissioner) and Carlina Esterilla (ASOMUNEP) also joined the conversation and their presence was fundamental as it helped to explain CAPAZ’ work with peace institutions such as the Truth Commission and with victims’ organizations such as ASOMUNEP.
Thank you to the parliamentarians for joining us on this day, for their interest and willingness to learn about the work we do at the CAPAZ Institute.
