Thomas Fischer talks about American interventionism according to the Caribbean press (1890-1930)
During the 1890s/1900s, the United States adopted an interventionist foreign policy in several Latin American countries. By 1895, US President William McKinley had assumed that his country was responsible for law and order in the Caribbean, with the island of Cuba in the spotlight.
In the upcoming lecture at the international seminar on violence and conflict in Latin America, Professor Thomas Fischer (KU Eichstätt-Ingolstadt) will review the perception of the Caribbean press on US interventionism in the 1980s and 1930s from a historical perspective.
The online lecture will be held on Tuesday, October 20, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. (Colombia time) and will be transmitted on the Uninorte Académico Youtube channel. The event is free of charge and open to the public.
