CAPAZ joins the panel on the peace process and social inequality in Colombia at the University of Leipzig Congress
CAPAZ will be speaking on one of the panels at the 3rd Latin American Transitions Conference, “Disruptions of Latin American Democracies: Roots and dynamics of contemporary conflict” organised by the University of Leipzig.
The panel on the Colombian Peace Process and Social Inequality will meet on Friday, June 18, 2021 at 4:15-6:15 p.m. (German time). It will be presented online: http://tiny.cc/yx62uz and the discussion will be held in English.
Panellists:
Dr. Rosario Figari Layus (CAPAZ/JLU Giessen) will speak about security policy and violence against social leaders in Colombia. CAPAZ Science Collaborator and doctoral student at JLU Giessen Juliana González Villamizar and Angela Santamaría (Universidad del Rosario) will speak about the memory of Arhuaco women in Colombia and the Colombian Truth Commission. Finally, CAPAZ Science Collaborator and PhD candidate at the University of Göttingen, Juliette Vargas, will discuss collective participation in the Special Jurisdiction for Peace (JEP). The panel will be moderated by CAPAZ Academic Director Prof. Dr. Stefan Peters.
Other panellists include Dr. Annika Oettler (Universität Marburg) and Laura Camila Barrios (Universidad del Rosario).
The Congress will close on Saturday, June 19, 2021 at 3:45 p.m. (German time) with a presentation by researcher Dr. Carolina Galindo, spokesperson for Universidad del Rosario at CAPAZ, reviewing the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on the exercise of violent repression and democracy in the Colombian case.
