New CAPAZ launches in the scope of our science diplomacy project
After receiving the award as one of the three most successful experiences in science diplomacy granted by the German Federal Ministry of Education in a call titled “Raising the profile of Education and Science Diplomacy”, CAPAZ, is launching two new products that are part of this project involving education and science diplomacy.
In the call, CAPAZ stood out for its communication activities in the field of scientific and academic diplomacy. It was also recognized for the work it has done in building a scenario of cooperation between Colombia and Germany that promotes the consolidation of a stable and lasting peace in the country.

The launches
This science diplomacy project launches today with two new products on the occasion of the elections in Germany on September 26th. There is a new audiovisual format: Vox Populi. This is a video-series based on questions voluntarily asked by passers-by, which are answered by two experts who talk about the topics proposed by citizens.
On this occasion, the German Ambassador to Colombia, Peter Ptassek, and Stefan Peters of the CAPAZ Institute, after a brief discussion on the cooperation between Colombia and Germany and its relation to this Sunday’s elections, answered questions such as “how do they talk about the language of peace in Germany?” or “how is Germany assessing Colombia on human rights issues”?
Another issue that we will begin to circulate through our channels are the opinion columns. These will be published monthly on El Espectador’s Colombia2020 platform. This is a journalistic initiative intended to serve as a platform to “change the narratives imposed during decades of armed conflict and think about how we want to see Colombian society after the war” (Colombia2020, El Espectador).
Each month, a guest columnist will present an analysis focusing on peacebuilding and related to a current issue. The first guest in this series was CAPAZ Academic Director, Prof. Dr. Stefan Peters, who, in his column, analyzed what the socio-political context in Colombia could be like after 16 years of Angela Merkel’s political mandate. This, above all, considering the impact that the next parliamentary leader could have on three points of the Colombian political agenda: the peace process, the environment, and the drug control and drug trafficking policy.
