CAPAZ ACADEMIC DIRECTOR: AN EXPERT VOICE ON DW SPECIAL ON SOCIAL JUSTICE IN LATIN AMERICA

“Latin America: An x-ray of inequality” is the title of the recently published special news and content report of the German broadcaster Deutsche Welle (DW), in its digital edition and in Spanish. The report includes analyses and opinions on topics such as education, income, housing, solidarity, human rights, and the COVID-19 pandemic. The report is intended to provide an overview of current events in the region.

CAPAZ Academic Director and Professor of Peace Studies at the Justus Liebig University, Giessen in Germany, Prof. Dr. Stefan Peters, was one of the experts consulted to address social inequalities in Latin American countries. In a conversation with DW, Prof. Peters referred, among other topics, to the historical roots and circumstances that generate such inequality, such as unequal land tenure, economic informality and lack of tax collection.
