These institutions were joined by the German Embassy in Colombia and the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) to manage Lerber Dimas’ academic agenda in Germany, as a reaction to the threats against the professor’s life, as a result of the research he has been conducting for decades on the Colombian armed conflict, specifically on drug trafficking and illegal economies in the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta region. Professor Dimas is also a recognized social leader and activist for the defence of human and environmental rights in the region; activities that have increased the risk to his life.
