Pedagogy of Memory: a workshop organised by the Truth Commission’s German and Belgian groups
The support groups for the Colombian Truth Commission in Germany and Belgium – Nodo Alemania and Nodo Bélgica – extend an invitation to those interested to join the online workshop with Virgelina Chará, a member of the Colombian Union of Sewing Workers. Ms Chará will share her experience in the pedagogy of memory and guide the workshop participants on a path through weaving: uniting, sewing, remembering and feeling Colombia from a distance.
The workshop will take place on Thursday, October 8, 2020 at 11:30 a.m. (Colombian time).
Virgelina Chará is an activist and human rights defender dedicated to strengthening the social processes of victims of the armed conflict, who have transformed their lives through working with memory. Weaving is rebuilding the social fabric, allowing us to narrate, recount, heal, and develop memory from a distance.
Alexandra Bisbicus, textile artist, social activist, and member of Nodo Alemania will moderate the event along with Catalina Rincón, plastic and scenic artist, and member of the Colectivo de Colombianas por la Paz based in Belgium. Nodo Alemania is supported by the German-Colombian Peace Institute – CAPAZ.
If you wish to attend the online event, please register at: mmc.alemania@comisionverdadcol-eu.org to receive the access link. Do not forget to bring a needle and thread, cardboard, markers and coloured fabrics!
The event will also be broadcast on Nodo Alemania’s Facebook Live page.
