Save the Date! Comprehensive programme of the CAPAZ and Universidad Nacional de Colombia Conference on Research and Dialogue
Actors representing different universities and think tanks, civil society, politics, and German cooperation in Colombia will hold talks and discussions at the “Research and inter-university dialogue meeting 2020: academia and society”, organised by CAPAZ and Universidad Nacional de Colombia in Bogotá, supported by the Colombian office of the Heinrich Böll Foundation and the media system at Universidad Nacional de Colombia, Unimedios.

Join us from 6 to 8 October 2020, from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. and take part in the online public sessions, which will be broadcast live through the organisers’ channels: Youtube Instituto CAPAZ and Youtube UN Televisión.
Programming:
Tuesday, October 6, 2020. Central theme: the post-agreement period in Colombia.
The opening session of the academic seminar will be hosted by the CAPAZ Academic Director, Prof. Dr. Stefan Peters, and will include a lecture by researcher Alejo Vargas. The first part of the day’s proceedings will include the presentation of the research results by Ximena Pachón, Eduardo Aguirre (both from the National University of Colombia) and Diana Quintero (Universidad Icesi). In the second part, Óscar Parra (JEP), Juliette Vargas (CAPAZ/CEDPAL), Sandra Ramírez (FARC Party) and Aldemar Bolaños (CRIC) will talk about the tensions and convergences between victims and perpetrators regarding truth and justice. Lorena Cecilia Vega (PUJ) will moderate the meeting.
Wednesday, October 7, 2020. Central theme: environment and democracy.
The representative in Colombia for the Heinrich Böll Foundation (HBS), Florian Huber, and anthropologist Astrid Ulloa (Universidad Nacional de Colombia) will open the session on the second day of activities. Professor Ulloa will dedicate her lecture to the theme of extractivism and territorial, environmental and cultural reconfigurations in La Guajira. Following this, Edisson Montero, Yesid Aranda (both from Universidad Nacional de Colombia) and Edna Martinez (FU Berlin), will present the results of their research on the exploitation of mineral coal, agricultural/agro-ecological practices and governance in Sumapaz, and the case of the mega-project in the Port of Tribugá, respectively. The second day will close with a talk on the development model and deforestation in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic, by Carlos Olaya (Dejusticia), Natalia Orduz (HBS in Colombia), Nelly Rodríguez (Universidad Nacional de Colombia), and Sebastián Gómez (Centro de Alternativas al Desarrollo). Rodrigo Botero (Foundation for Conservation and Sustainable Development) will chair the discussion.
Thursday, October 8, 2020. Central theme: health and the region.
Hernando Gaitán and Fernando Pío de la Hoz (Universidad Nacional de Colombia) will be the opening speakers on the last day of the programme. Olga Gómez, Sara del Castillo (both from Universidad Nacional de Colombia), as well as Vanessa Giraldo (University of Massachusetts) will present the results of their research on healthy habits and prevention in infancy; alternatives to food distribution and for food sovereignty and security; and rural health and medicinal plants, respectively. The meeting will end with a talk on public health and social inequality in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic, with the participation of Alejandro Gómez (Bogotá Health Secretariat), Stefan Peters (CAPAZ), Nubia Matta and Javier Eslava (Universidad National de Colombia). Hernando Gaitán will chair the session.
