“Colombia Days” at the University of Jena
Researchers from a number of universities along with representatives of various organisations will meet at the “Colombia Days” congress to be held on May 27 and 28, 2019 at the University of Jena, Germany.
The event is organised by the Centre for Reconciliation Studies, Jena, in cooperation with other institutions, including the German-Colombian Peace Institute – CAPAZ.
The topic for this year is the implementation of the peace agreements in the current context of uncertainty in Colombia. Admission is free and open to the interested public.
The participants include Prof. Dr. Solveig Richter (Willy Brandt School of Public Policy), who represents the University of Erfurt as an associate member of the CAPAZ Institute consortium. In the first panel session on May 27, Professor Richter will present her paper on post-conflict transformations in Colombia and the reincorporation of former combatants.
The next day, researcher Dr. Luis Berneth Peña (JCRS, University of Jena and Universidad Externado de Colombia) will present a synthesis of his working paper, to be published soon by CAPAZ, and which deals with territorial peace, from the moral and geographical imaginary of social movements in Colombia.
The academic programme includes presentations by researchers and experts in peace and conflict studies from prestigious universities such as Universität Innsbruck (Austria), the University of Erfurt (Germany), the University of Stellenbosch (South Africa), the University of Jena, Freie Universität Berlin (Germany), and the Universidad de Antioquia (Colombia).
Other participants include representatives of the Truth Commission (CEV) and the Peace and Reconciliation Foundation (PARES) in Colombia.
