Call for research project funding 2023
CAPAZ is currently accepting applications for research projects focused on peacebuilding in Colombia. They will provide funding for a maximum of five (5) projects, with each project receiving a subsidy of up to €5,000 (five thousand euros). The selected projects should be implemented between July 2023 and June 2024.
Call goal:
The primary goal of this call is to foster the creation, dissemination, and exchange of academic knowledge by financing research projects that contribute to peacebuilding in Colombia. Additionally, the call aims to support German-Colombian cooperation and international collaboration in general regarding these research endeavours.
Target Audience:
This call is open to research groups in Colombia and Germany that have established cooperative relationships between the two countries and are currently engaged in research topics related to peacebuilding in Colombia. The participation of research groups from other countries is not excluded.
The call for proposals will finance research projects in the following thematic areas:
Practices for Peacebuilding: This research area explores the practical actions undertaken by various actors, including both institutional and civil society, with the aim of contributing to peacebuilding efforts, particularly in different regions of Colombia. Special attention will be given to topics such as peace education, historical memory, and reform within the security sector.
Transitional Justice and Human Rights: This area focuses on researching the design, implementation, and monitoring of legal and institutional mechanisms necessary to address the legacy of atrocities committed during the armed conflict. The objective is to strive for the maximum satisfaction of the rights of the victims.
Peace, Conflicts, and Territorial Reconfigurations: This research area analyses power dynamics and conflicts over territory, which give rise to various forms of violence and socio-economic inequalities. The goal is to elucidate the reconfiguration of interests among different actors involved in the construction of a stable and enduring peace in Colombia, with territory as a fundamental aspect influencing conflict dynamics.
Environmental Peace: This area investigates the socio-environmental consequences of the armed conflict and the dynamics related to the environment following the signing of peace agreements. Topics covered include deforestation, biodiversity, extractivism, socio-environmental conflicts, energy transition, environmental health, agroecology, and more. The objective is to analyse the interplay between armed conflict, peace, and environmental protection, thus enhancing the understanding of the significance of addressing climate change.
